where do you want to run today?

Let's go there together!

Kim Silverstein

I laced up my first pair of running shoes at the age of 14, almost by accident. After being cut from high school soccer tryouts, I found my home on the cross country and track teams. I was immediately hooked and have been running ever since. I left sunny California for the East Coast for college and graduate school where it turns out I hated running in the cold and refused to even step on a treadmill! Seven years later, I returned to my native SoCal and joined a running group where I found myself training for the LA Marathon. I haven't looked back since!

Running has been a fun way to maintain my well-being and be in community, especially since having my two children and juggling career transitions. As an Angeleno of nearly twenty years, I love exploring the colors and textures of this city on foot. I’ve met some incredible friends through this sport and I believe running can add so much joy to one’s life.

I earned my coaching certification from the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) in August 2020. I have completed seven marathons, 13 half marathons, 2 sprint distance triathlons, and 1 Olympic distance duathlon. When I’m not out pounding the pavement or my treadmill, I am a life-style portrait and event photographer, and can be found doing political volunteer work and advocating for a more equitable public education system.

 My Approach

I believe running should be accessible to anyone who wants to do it! Yes, running can (and should) be challenging, but more importantly it should be JOYFUL! Our bodies can do incredible things and I want my athletes to fall in love with how wonderful running can feel. As part our initial consultation, I will learn more about your history with running and movement, as well as about your life outside of running, to come up with a plan that works for YOU. There is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes training and my goal is to create a custom experience that will be fun and help you achieve your goals.

One of the things I love most about the running community is how inclusive it has become in recent years, seeing the diversity of sizes and ages of bodies out on the roads and at races. This is why I align with the Health At Every Size (HAES) philosophy and believe that anyone in any body size can be a runner if they wish. There is no one type of runner or running body - I work with athletes of all sizes and abilities without an emphasis on weight loss or changing your body size. If this sounds like an approach that would work for you, let's talk!
